Les Schawb

I had fever last night, 2 of the 3 kids have been sick this week. Walked out the house after 12 hours sleep, and left front tire was completely flat.  So, sitting in the infamous tire shop waiting room, contemplating bad coffee and stale popcorn as my food options. Good times.

Isabel II

Ventured back to Isabel after the nice meal there last week.  Today shared a plate of lettuce wraps, and ordered from the special board getting fish tacos with beans & rice.  The fish was fresh cod, grilled not fried, and tasted wonderful.  I am really ready to try breakfast here.  Table next to us was doing…

Acapulco’s Gold

Acapulco’s Gold, at 2610 NW Vaughn.  This is not a chain-restaurant; Far from it.  Sitting in the shadow of Montgomery Park, on a street with a lot of history, this place has some good and filling noonday grub.  Speaking of history, the music playing today took me into a complete time warp.  Pouring out of…

Cravings

Seres

Had a nice meal at Seres, in the Pearl District.  Classic Szechuan and multi-regional Chinese restaurant, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.  Inside, the ceiling towers high above with a clean, open, industrial loft feel.  Nice windows with lots of street side people watching.  Had the hot and sour soup and loved it.  It was…

Isabel

Had lunch at Isabel, in the Pearl.  Chef Isabel Cruz serving a “blend of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Mexican, Japanese, and Thai cooking.”  Okay.  All I know is lunch was delicious, and I am coming back!  Enjoyed a dish called Double Happiness.  Crisp brown rice and seasonal vegetables with marinated beef and chicken and a side…
